The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and Music School Festival Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Rossen Milanov, join forces with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus for Mahler’s profound ‘Resurrection’ Symphony in a special side-by-side performance. This monumental work, one of Mahler’s most emotionally charged compositions, is a masterful journey from darkness to transcendent light and hope. Of the culminating moments Mahler wrote: “A feeling of overwhelming love fills us with blissful knowledge and illuminates our existence.”

The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition
Young, talented opera singers of all voice types from Washington state will sing two arias each, accompanied by a professional pianist. Competing in the annual The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, where they seek to discover and support promising young opera singers. The Metropolitan Opera auditions remain dedicated to advancing top young talent with a venue to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to stand side-by-side on the New York City Metropolitan Opera stage with the top young voice talent in the country.
